Public education in Georgia is at a crossroads. Educators are facing growing political pressure, increasing demands on our time and professionalism, and continued challenges in recruiting and retaining high-quality educators. At this moment, GAE needs experienced, steady leadership that understands both the classroom and the complex work of building a strong statewide association. Now in my 21st year as a classroom educator and my 19th year in association leadership, I have seen how decisions made at every level-from the schoolhouse to the statehouse-shape teaching and learning. I am running for GAE Vice President because I believe deeply in the power of collective action and in the importance of listening to educators in every corner of our state. Over the years, I have learned that the needs of educators in rural Georgia can look very different from those in suburban or urban districts, but all deserve respect, representation, and support. My service on the GAE Board of Directors, including my work as NEA Director and my current role as First Vice President of the Organization of DeKalb Educators, has prepared me to help lead our association at a critical time. As Vice President, I will work to strengthen GAE by supporting our local associations, developing future leaders, and ensuring that every member knows they are valued and heard. I believe GAE must continue to be a professional home for educators - one that defends our working conditions, protects our students, and champions strong public schools across Georgia. I am asking for your support so that, together, we can continue building a stronger GAE and a stronger future for Georgia's public schools. |
